Burntisland:
- Beautiful beach only 5mins walk
- Lots of independent shops
- Leisure Centre swimming: waves and flumes - £16.20 for 2 adults and 2 children. Check website timetable/other prices
- The Big Green Market is open once a month (usually the first weekend of the month) with bargains to be had. Check their Facebook page for up-to-date information.
- The Links has a big play park open all year, and a seasonal bouncy castle and crazy golf

FURTHER AFIELD
Falkland Palace (35mins)
- in a quaint village. Managed to National Trust for Scotland. If you have any kind of National Trust membership, you can gain free entry. Check website for up-to-date opening times and entry fees.
Culross (35mins)
- situated in a small historic village, this 17th century merchant’s house (run by National Trust) is a unique find. Definitely worth an explore for all the family.
Linlithgow (40mins)
- This little town has a lot to offer – walk the high street, visit the historic royal palace (run by Historic Scotland), the nearby Church (has a cute trail inside) and the town’s free museum in the library. Add a walk and a picnic in the Palace grounds and you’ll easily spend more of the day here.
Scottish Deer Centre (40mins)
- a family favourite for us. Lots of animals, displays, walks and activities here. Check website for current opening times and prices.
Perth (45mins)
- Lovely town with walks down by the River Tay and many independent and charity shops
- North Inch golf course has a lovely walk around it with a play park by the leisure centre. Lots of parking places around the course, with easy access to the town.
- Out of town - Huntingtower Castle: owned by Historic Scotland, check for opening times and current prices. Sometimes has trails etc on for children.

Balmerino (55mins)
- Follow signs into the village for parking. Start at Balmerino Abbey, and collect a local village map/guide. This shows you a walking loop round the village and sites, onto the beach and round back to your starting point. Lovely wee walk.
Between Perth & Dundee (50/55mins)
- Error Market and Car boot sale – excellent for a Sunday morning browse!

- Cairn O’Mohr Winery – our favourite wine! Pop into the shop for a browse/taste or if you don’t have children with you, book yourself in for a tour. You won’t regret it!
Falkirk (50mins)
- Falkirk Wheel – ride the wheel (book in advance, it can get very busy), practice archery, play crazy golf, go zorbing and visit the free play park. Lots of activities available, all charged separately. It is free to wander around and see how you go.
Dundee (1 hour)
- Discovery Point – check website for up-to-date opening times and prices, you can get joint tickets with the Verdant Works.

- Dundee Science Centre – book in advance for a 2.5 hour timeslot, this can get busy. Well worth the money, especially on a rainy day. There is a variety of parking nearby
- V & A – free admission but check for exhibitions and opening times
- Dundee Transport Museum
- The McManus: Dundee’s Art Gallery and Museum – free!
- The Law Hill – beautiful viewpoint over the city and River Tay into Fife
